Now goodbyes come so much easier

Knowin’ that soon I’ll see you again

There’s no need for me to worry about you

‘Cause I’ve entrusted you to our Friend

He’s the One who gave us each other

Opened our hearts and let us enter in

To the love that we both feel beginning to grow

Into a love that we’ll never see end

Goodbye my friend, I’ll see you again

And the time we’re apart won’t compare

To the time we’ve left to spend

When I return I’ll share the things that I’ve learned

And we'll be so much closer to the time

We’ll never have to say goodbye again

My life’s filled with a deep love of music

And my melody’s gentle yet strong

Our living and abiding in Jesus

Is the reason I’m writing this song

Though the miles and the time set between us

Seem so distant, so very long

God’s just using this time to add a few lines

To a verse of an eternal song (chorus)

We could be sailing soon

Look at the clock - it’s almost midnight

We’ve been singing a pilgrim’s tune

Calling this world home never did feel right to me

And now I see my home waits on a distant shore

I can’t call this world home anymore

I know I’ll soon be sailing

Home where my treasure’s waiting

Home - with my friends and my family

Home - that’s where I wanna be

Home - in New Jerusalem

There’s so much love in my heart

The light in your eyes draws it out like a magnet

And we’ve got so much to share but what we have here

Is only a fragment (chorus)

So if I say goodbye to you

I know at the most it’s only a short while

And if I don’t see you til then

I tell you my friend I’ll remember you smiling (chorus)

And I know we’re so close to the time

We’ll never have to say goodbye again

we could be sailing soon
we could be sailing soon
