Morning finds me in the ashes and embers
Defeated in battle the night before
Wandering defenseless through the battleground
An ambush in the darkness
And I’m knocked down once more
My mind’s been well trained knowing all the defenses
I’ve been well schooled to know the battle plan
But ideas on paper and real war greatly differ
At the enemy’s first charge
I dropped my weapons and I ran
Sweeping down all around me the midnight riders charge
They hit me hard I’m wounded and they’re gone
Struggling to get up I must keep moving forward
Until my Champion
With my victory comes
There’s no chance by myself the enemy’s too strong
Fighting alone I would surely die
Yet deep in my spirit I know I’ll overcome
Because the Champion of God’s Kingdom
Fights by my side
I lift up mine eyes unto the hills
From whence cometh my help?
I lift up mine eyes unto the hills
From whence cometh my help?
I lift up mine eyes unto the hills
From whence cometh my help?
“My help comes from the Lord . . .”
Psalm 121:1-2
