Thievery

You try and steal the thunder
Numb the sense of wonder
Sedate the state of fascination
With smug and lifeless explanations
You raise ridiculous questions
Planting seeds of worry and doubt
Eyes behind blindfolds and ears that won’t hear
You spin them, then send them to figure life out
Under cover of darkness as an angel of light
From within the shadows your concealed appetite
Devouring innocence, swallowing hope
Suggesting escape - you dangle a rope
But the best lied plans of devils and men
Can’t keep Humpty Dumpty from being born again
When these wonderful words, forever Faithful and True
Take root in the heart “for he careth for you”
“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy;
I have come that they may have life, and have it to
the full.” (John 10:10)
