The Next Big Thing

I need to be the next big thing I need to make a big TO-DO I must have some spectacular purpose That everyone will notice by the time I’m through

All I do these days is sit in silence Meditating on your Word Dreaming, scheming - as I await your guidance

Feeling overlooked, unnoticed and unheard

The blessed daze that swept along like frenzy

Offering very little time to breathe How I long for those days of being busy When I would dream . . . of days like these - (sigh)

Consider the role of the silent witness

Out of the spotlight, behind the scenes

Faithfully, quietly about your business

Praying open - hearts and doors and seas

Confidently watching in expectation

As your ageless plan unfolds You still provide a day for resting To remind me of what You control

At rest I’ve come to reconsider The notice I once hungered to receive To hear a soft, eternal whisper “Well done, now enter in”

- the only recognition that I need

"Well done, thou good and faithful servant . . ."

Matthew25:21
