Narrowed Minds

The dividing line where narrowed minds
Choose the good and resist the evil
Absolutes rise clear, foggy notions disappear
Buried beneath the ruins of their own upheaval
Who can bring a charge against God’s elect?
The chosen ones in Christ, forever choosing
To walk step by step, the lighted path
The wide and darkened way refusing
Who has heard the holy call
And loves the Holy One who’s calling?
Who’s been told to “Rise and walk.”
And follow without fear of falling?
Who is on the Lord’s side?
Who has settled all accounts?
Who is clothed in righteousness?
Who is blessed in immeasurable amounts?
Who seeks wisdom from the mind of Christ
And has received his Holy Spirit?
Who has learned to listen for his voice
And obey whenever he hears it?
Who could be so narrow minded
So oblivious to popular debate
To be certain all they hope to find
Lies beyond this narrow gate?
“. . . Now choose life, so that you and your children
may live and that you may love the Lord your God,
listen to his voice and hold fast to him.”
(Deuteronomy 30:19-20)
