Beneath the Welcome Mat

The dust beneath the welcome mat
Outside the back door
It's no disgrace to know your place
Don't inflate your value - blessed are the poor
The tragedy of humility
To go unnoticed and unheard
Deep, untapped potential
That will never be observed
Wasted gifts and talents
Buried in the ground
Resting cold and silent
Quietly laid down
Finally - I think I comprehend
The divine purpose of this test
This life is mine for dying
And yours to resurrect
I am the resurrection and the life . . .
(John 11:25)
