Out among the ruins

That never had a chance to stand

Foolish builders, heartless architects

Sunken empires built on sand

Are they sinking all around me?

Have I begun to rise?

Ancient words surround and lift me

Above the wisdom of the wise

A solid rock foundation

A cornerstone predating time

Stones expertly joined together

Stones filled with the breath of life

How far the proud have fallen

O the heights to which the humble rise

This is the Lord’s doing

And it is marvelous in our eyes

“The stone the builders rejected has become the capstone;

the Lord has done this, and it is marvelous in our eyes.”

Psalm 118:22-23
