. . . nor man’s empty praise . . .
(Be Thou My Vision)
It could quite likely be
That no public recognition will come to me
When all is is said and done, faithfully
It is in secret where we meet
In secret He hears my prayers, listens to my songs
Confirms this is exactly where I have always belonged
Words like lavish and abundantly fall short but do their best
For the thrill of joy and the depth of peace simply cannot express
The pleasure with which He chooses
The immeasurable measure that He uses
As He waits patiently to meet me
A gracious fragrance greets me
“But when you pray, go into your room, close the door
and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father,
who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.”
(Matthew 6:6)
