A Fitting Conclusion

Today I’ll be having lunch (chicken fried steak) with my wife at Hays House Restaurant and Tavern, the oldest restaurant west of the Mississippi, located in Council Grove, Kansas - which also happens to be my birthplace. And today, April 11, happens to be my 68th birthday. Happy birthday to me! And thank you to everyone involved in making that happen. I owe you one several more than I can count.

I have never felt less important and simultaneously more fulfilled than I do at this moment. It’s not a matter of being comfortable in my skin. I am longing more than ever for the day when “this tent” is replaced (2 Corinthians 5:4). The difference in fits comes from finding an absolute perfect fit for my unique design; not a design of my own making, but the making of me according to the design of my Creator.

From learning what the Lord requires and how to walk with Him (Micah 6:8), to remembering that the Sovereign of the Universe is the One who “satisfies your years with good things” - again, more than I can count - (Psalm 103), I look at my 68 years (and beyond) and see how perfectly it all fits. Bless the Lord , O my soul!
