It was so funny. No, it was hilarious. We had to laugh. Bill Cosby as Noah in a conversation with God.

We should have seen this coming. Growing up in an age where the nakedness of Adam and Eve drew more erotic attention than the deadly consequences of their fall, sin - the first sin, deadly and decisive as it was, was not to be regarded as a big thing; if it was even a "thing" at all. What it was, was a constant source of comedic inspiration. Ancient history that never gets old.

Adam and Eve, Biblical accounts of miracles, prophets in sandals and shabby robes, carrying signs proclaiming "The End is Near!" - all brought to our attention with one purpose: make 'em laugh. The laughter and mockery of those making sport of Noah's "foolishness," as he faithfully followed the instructions of the Living God, whose judgement on a sinful world was about to fall, returned to entertain a new generation - in a hilarious bit of comedy presented by Bill Cosby. We needed to lighten up, laugh at ourselves, laugh away the guilt of sinfulness - laugh at God.

After all, "Did God really say . . ." (Genesis 3:1)
