The Kinks Greatest Hits/the Kinks - the first album I bought; probably with my allowance money
The Yes Album/Yes - I ordered this after hearing a delightful acoustic guitar solo, the only one on the album; my surprise intro to "prog rock"
Washington County/Arlo Guthrie - a beautiful album and a huge influence on my own musical development
Godspell/original cast - "Day by Day" was a big radio hit but there was a lot more to this musical
Greatest Hits: Booker T & the MGs - Taught me what a groove truly was; when I got my first set of drums I played to this record for HOURS
Share the Land/the Guess Who - Great guitars and a vague anthemic quality; what happens in vagueness stays in vagueness
Turn Your Radio On/Ray Stevens - "Love Lifted Me" convinced me that "happy hymns" could actually sound happy
The Misfit/Erik Nelson & Michele Pillar - In my opinion, which I realize is of limited value, one of the best records to surface in, and far above, the CCM genre
Late for the Sky/Jackson Browne - Caught instantly by these lyrics from "The Road and the Sky" - "Now can you see those dark clouds gathering up ahead?/They're gonna wash this planet clean like the Bible said/Now you can hold on steady, try to be ready/But everybody's gonna get wet/Don't think it won't happen just because it hasn't happened yet"
Deja Vu/Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young - In my young musical life this was an event; "Teach Your Children" and "Our House" still shine
