Because I never granted permission

When I was near you

Did I try to hear you?

Or did I just want you to listen?

Mis-spent youth

Clearly focused and self-centered

No excuse - I was free to choose

As I passed so many open doors I could have entered

I can’t seem to do what I want to

But what I don’t want to

I keep repeating

It can take a long time to die
